CLOAK OF THE LIGHT

The Cloak of Light by Chuck Black is a very good start to what could become a best seller in my eyes. I started reading about Drew, and knew right away that he could easily get into trouble. He had all the right symptoms; Death in the family, mother who worked with no after school supervision. Then Jake comes in and gives Drew the tools to be successful in life. I think that without the love of God and the challenging help from Sydney that this young man could have made some easier choices. I know I am rambling, but this book starts out as a drab story of a teenager. How many of those have we read lately, am I right? The cloak of light begins following drew long before he sees the ALIEN in the lens, and the adventure that follows is so thrilling that I could not put the book down. I have read it twice, and have enjoyed the book that much more the second time. I thing that Chuck Black is able to take on the age old questions do demons and angels exist with great tact. He is able to let us answer our own questions and yet  I cant wait to read the next book. Look for it and enjoy.

Very Disappointed

The Girl in the Glass started out well, but after the first couple of chapters it became impossible to keep up with and comprehend. I recommend that this book goes back to the editor for a make over.

Vacation Bible School 2013

"A Blue Ribbon Way of Life", this was the theme for Enola Church of Christ  2013 Vacation Bible School. I was given the privilege  of being  "Booster Rooster", a comical and gregarious Rooster who learns about simple lessons in life. This year the Rooster helped the youth learn about the Fruits of the Spirit. I just have to say that this was one of the most rewarding years for me. Several of the youth from the 3,4 & 5 year old classes commented about the lessons. One in particular stood out in my mind, after Sunday evening on our first night, She stated "I think there is a person in there" and then later was heard saying "That was a good story".
Moments like these make a person/Rooster think back to what small influential thing I may have said or done when my own children were this age. I will continue to remember what that little girl said, and mind my "Fruits" when I am around impressionable youth.
We ended the week Wednesday evening with 191 in attendance. I am particularly proud of this number as the Baptist church in Mt. Vernon was also conducting their VBS. I have just found out that Mars Hill will be kicking off their Bible school Saturday, August 27th.
Well I must get to work a fifteen minute break is just that a break!
